The Live-in Experience is an immersive stay at Sanctuary for Tropical Edible Plants (STEP). During your stay—whether for a night or a few days—you’ll camp by the lake, share plant-based meals, and join us in the daily routines of growing and preparing food in ways that follow nature's cycles. You’ll also take part in hands-on learning sessions focused on the Seed-to-Seed Cycle and the Life Diet.

Join our daily routines and gain direct experience in:
Seed-to-Seed Cycle
Learn how we grow edible plants from seed to seed using methods that support the plant’s full life cycle and long-term food production. You’ll join in seasonal tasks like sowing, planting, harvesting, and soil building to better understand our food system.
Life Diet Cooking
Learn how to create delicious nourishing meals using the Life Diet principles. The Life Diet is an eating guideline that supports the optimal life of the plants we eat and the human body.

Why We Offer This
We created the Live-in Experience to give people a way to see, learn, and participate in what we’re building here. STEP is a long-term project focused on edible reforestation, ecological repair and community living. We are creating practical ways to live in harmony with nature, and sharing that knowledge through real, hands-on experience. This short stay lets you step inside that process and try it out for yourself.

Where We Are
Located near San Jose, Petén, Guatemala—about a 45-minute drive from Flores. You’ll stay right on the lake, surrounded by tropical forest.
